The Rural and Northern Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Youth Sexual Health Team is a new research team consisting of academic researchers, trainees and community partners. This multi-disciplinary team was created with the aim to investigate the ways in which gender, culture and place concomitantly interact to affect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth sexual health to develop new research capacity to inform LGBT youth sexual health interventions and reduce the resultant health and social inequalities experienced by rural, northern and remote LGBT youth in British Columbia (BC). The BC Rural and Remote Health Research Network Collaborative (BCRRHRN) team building award provided this team with the support needed to engage community partners and key LGBT youth sexual health stakeholders from across rural, northern and remote BC.
